We prepare Earthing calculations for Indoor and outdoor Substations. The calculation is made in line with IEEE 80 or IS 3043 standards. It can be made either manually by MS Excel or by ETAP software.
Earthing of non current carrying metallic parts of all electrical equipment and building steel structures are required to avoid shock hazards and to provide a return path for flow of earth fault current for operation of earth fault relay. For Substations an Earth mat is laid in the substation area to limit the dangerous step and touch potentials generated during earth faults within tolerable values of step and touch potentials. The mat spacing is decided by the soil resistivity.
